We offer a variety of dance styles and disciplines including tumbling and Chinese gymnastics for all ages and levels.

BALLET - The foundation for all dance, contributes directly to the development of grace, elegance, technique, discipline, flexibility, stamina, and endurance. Ballet is the “backbone” of all dance training. We strongly feel that ballet is the most important dance form that anyone can study.

CHINESE DANCE - A Chinese folk dance with curriculum that is used in China's professional dance academies. The students learn techniques and moves in both Chinese dance and ballet that prepare them to go long way in advancing their dancing skills.

JAZZ - A freestyle dance form combining isolations, strength, coordination and style. This jazz dance class offers a variety of styles vary from classical jazz, lyrical as well as musical theatre and original Broadway choreography.

LYRICAL - Lyrical is a fluid form of dance done to popular ballads and slower contemporary music. The dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, motion and style. They will learn to tell a story or create the picture of the song. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet with the more sharp moves in jazz. A Ballet or Jazz class is recommended along with lyrical to build in technique.

HIP HOP  - A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. This class will encompass movement that has elements of poppin', locking, breaking, jazz, hip hop and funk, as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

CHINESE GYMNASTICS (TUMBLING) - Acrobatic movements are combined with dance steps as students learn the fundamentals of movement and timing with tumbling. This class focuses on floor gymnastic tricks, flexibility and upper-body strength. The classes will include forward rolls, cartwheels, and advances to aerials and back tucks.

What is the difference between the lyrical, hip hop and jazz classes?

Lyrical -  the slower of the three. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet with the more sharp moves in jazz.

Hip Hop - street, freestyle, individualized, less technical

Jazz - the more technical of the three, where students will learn proper body placement for all forms of dance (the foundation for jazz). Students work on flexibility for big kicks, layouts, multiple turns etc. Foot work from step ball change to more advanced combinations.

Class Placement

VERY IMPORTANT! Students are placed in a class based on level, not age. Below are general guidelines.

Ages 3- 5

Students learn CHINESE DANCE, with a focus on reinforcing basic motor skills and rhythm exercises. Fundamental CHINESE DANCE exercises are taught, while encouraging our young students to explore the use of their creative minds in relation to movement.

Ages 5-7 & 6-8

Starting at age 5, students may also enjoy CHINESE GYMNASTICS (TUMBLING) classes. They will be introduced to the fundamentals of Gymnastics with a focus on tumbling that will provide the building blocks necessary for their potential development in gymnastics as well as cheerleading, dance, and overall fitness. Students will be introduced to exercise safety, stretching, flexibility, balance, coordination and most importantly - fun! A one hour class of BALLET is offered. Students spend one full hour learning technique and performance skills in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. On Monday evenings we offer a one hour Hip Hop class for boys ages 6-8.

Ages  8-11 & 10-13

A one hour combination class of JAZZ & LYRICAL is offered. Students spend one half hour on each discipline, learning the fundamentals of technique, style, and performance. Other classes for this age groups include one hour classes in BALLET, CHINESE DANCE, CHINESE GYMNASTICS (TUMBLING) (for ages 10-13 additional half an hour is offered where students learn jump and turn technique.
